2018 Annual Gala
The 2018 MAME Annual Gala was an amazing time! With over 300 attendees, MAME was proud and thrilled with the energy and enthusiasm in the room! Starting with AQUEST Corp, the event sponsor, Phil Roland jazz up the crowd addressing the workforce issues manufactures are facing. Our sponsors included AQUEST Corp—Event Sponsor, Camden National Bank—Award Sponsor, PEI Logistics and Legal Shield—Networking Sponsors and Clark Insurance—VIP Sponsor. Thank you to all the sponsors!
The evening was filled with the new and outgoing board members, recognitions and awards. Congratulations to the new Hall of Fame Inductees Steve Boulet, Auburn Manufacturing and Tim Hussey, Hussey Seating (1959-2016). Cheers to Kelli Deveaux and Nicole Sturgis, Westbrook High School for the “Above and Beyond” award.
Saying so long to outgoing board members including Leo Dionne, Pratt & Whitney, Andy Nichols, Elmet Technologies and Anne Gauthier, Texas instruments. All will continue to influence the great work they did while serving on the board.
The keynote address by Shawn Gorman was very well received as he talked about the governance, history and family strategies over 106 years of LL Bean. Sharing this amazing story, along with his parents Jim and Maureen Gorman, was especially rewarding.
Our sincere thanks to our sponsors, the board members and Annual Gala committee that all made this one of the most memorable events!

Thank you to everyone who made 2018 Manufacturing Month such a success! We had over 2100 participants in 2018! Here is a look at the numbers so far:
- 1700 students from Middle School, High School and Post-Secondary attended tours
- 43 host sites
- 390 influencers attended tours—these include educators, elected officials, and industry members
MAME hosted our flagship event on October 11th at Helical Solutions in Gorham. Students from Portland Arts and Technology High School and Biddeford Regional Center of Technology joined us to tour the state of the art facility.
In addition to our tours at the beginning of the month: On Oct 30th Westbrook HS sent 170 freshman students to tour LL Bean, Cuddledown, Montalvo, Jotul, D&G Machine, and Sterling Rope. Westbrook was also awarded the MAME Above & Beyond Award in Support of Manufacturing for these efforts. Kelli Deveauz, Principal and Nicole Sturgis, Aspirations Coordinator were presented with these awards at the MAME Annual Gala on Oct 25th.
On Nov 8, 2018 Gorham High School sent out nearly 145 students to tour LL Bean, Cuddledown, Tech Place, Arundel Machine, American Rhienmetal Systems, and Sterling Rope. They would like to repeat these tours in June 2019.
We also want to thank Pratt & Whitney for their generous sponsorship to help offset the cost of transportation to schools. Their funding allows us to provide transportation funding to schools who would otherwise not be able to send students on these tours.
Thank you to all the hosts and schools who participated. If you are interested in hosting students or attending a tour please reach out to Marion.
