Sterling Rope Hosts Weekly Scavenger Hunt with Prizes!

Over the next 6 months, Sterling is celebrating 25 years
with a Treasure Hunt at 25 crags across the country.

We will be giving away 25 Sterling Ropes and a TON of swag.

Every Friday (with a couple exceptions) a new Treasure Hunt will launch. In partnership with Access Fund and the American Alpine Club, a wooden marker will be placed in a non-obvious location anywhere from the trailhead to the top of a climb at a crag. A clue will be released that Friday and the game is on! The first person to post a selfie with the marker, while tagging #Sterling25, @sterlingrope, @accessfund and @americanalpine, will win a FREE STERLING ROPE. The next 25 people to post will win Sterling swag. The locations range from Alaska to Arizona, Washington to West Virginia, and Michigan to Maine.

Dieudonne exchanges his first MAME business card.
Left to right: Lisa D'Alessandro (Aizoon), Dieudonne Nzeyimana

Welcome Dieudonne Nzeyimana!

Dieudonne Nzeyimana is a Rwandan National who moved to US/Maine less than a year ago. He was first educated as a Statistical Engineer, and later completed an MBA program with the Maastricht School of Management in Netherlands. He has now joined the MAME team under an internship and we would like to introduce him to the membership!

His career demonstrates a high level of adaptability and capacity to pioneer and manage/lead. With over 25 years of work experience, he started as a Civil servant in Rwanda, and worked in various roles, including public accounts, budgeting, and payroll management.

Motivated by a personal interest in IT, he played a pioneering and leadership role in the modernization of the Rwandan Public Administration in the 90’s, where he oversaw the first project ever to design and develop a computerized system for the civil servant payroll.

In 2002, he worked as a network administrator for a UN agency (UNECA) for  four years, while considering a career move to Management as his next step, and therefore taking an MBA class.

He then moved to management towards the end of 2006, and worked in various management positions, until 2015. Two of such positions – (i) Managing Director for a small dairy products manufacturing company, and (ii) Operations Director for PSI, the largest NGO in the health sector in Rwanda – were particularly good in strengthening his management and leadership skills.

Dieudonne Nzeyimana expects to have a work authorization within the next 2 months. In the meantime, he is halfway through an IT training leading to a CompTIA Network+ certification, and later to the Cisco Certified Network Associate – CCNA certification. His ideal next job will be one that can use both his management and IT skills.

If you are interested in learning more about Dieudonne's capabilities and his plans for after his internship, please contact the MAME office!

Training in Maine, Using Local Talent

Getting professional development or technical training is part of the cost of doing business. In some cases, it is an ongoing effort within companies, in other cases; it is a one-off need.

MAME is in the business of supporting private industry, including private sector consulting.  To assure you are getting the best talent to fulfil your training needs, let us know what you are looking for; we can assist in finding the best solution, whether private or public and assure you are getting exactly what you need. There’s usually a cost associated with training so let us contribute to your bottom line by looking to MAME for your professional training needs.

We are working with a number of local Maine trainers that do outstanding work for Maine companies. Need some compliance services? Interested in Leadership training? Looking for a CEO forum? Just contact MAME so we can connect you with the best possible solution!

A well thought out process and decision has been made to transition the MWPA to the Manufacturers Association of Maine (MAME). This will carry continuity and name recognition for the group and represent the wood products industry in ways that can help expand and growth this sector.

MAME has created a wood products alliance, consisting of our current members. We have a an email list for B2B contract work, resumes and other pertinent information needed for the industry.

Today, 23 MWPA members have joined with us to make a stronger, more vibrant and dynamic wood products alliance. We are still looking for more wood products members to join! If you would like to see our most recent new members, look above!

MAME is providing a number of programs and services for manufacturers across the state including:

  • The MAME Energy Program with Constellation Energy
  • Legislative and Policy Development—a strong presence in Augusta and Washington DC
  • Student and Educator Outreach to develop future workforce
  • Business Development for industry includes B2B contract work (potential contract work to members)
  • Networking and events that bring multi-industries together. We recently had a tour at a wood products company on April 12th, 2018. Shaw & Tenney allowed us to walk through and have a monthly meeting at their facility- look to the top of the newsletter to learn more.

In July, Lisa G. Martin, our Executive Director, is visiting a number of MWPA companies across the state that have become MAME members!

At the 2018 MFG Summit, we will present the Pine Tree and Pine Cone award to two deserving wood products companies. Lie-Nielsen Toolworks will receive the Pine Tree Award, and Maine Cedar Hot Tubs will receive the Pine Cone!

If you are a current MWPA/MAME member, your dues include a ticket to the Summit. If you are not yet a member, you are invited, as our guest, to this amazing event and the largest gathering of manufacturers in the state! Register at www.mainemfg.com/events

Purchasing Your Power through The MAME Energy Program

Since the late 1990s, millions of power customers in states, such as Maine, have had the freedom to choose their own energy supplier. The Manufacturers Association of Maine (MAME) has endorsed Constellation, as its exclusive energy provider to its members, since 2008. Constellation is the leading competitive energy supplier in America.

A competitive power supplier is a company that purchases power from the wholesale market and sells it directly to the customer. When you purchase your power through a supplier, your local utility still services all equipment, such as meters and wires. But you can pursue pricing options and strategies with competing suppliers. This is a change from the traditional approach where businesses only purchased its energy supply through the local utility.

While there are other options available, we believe that choosing Constellation through The MAME Energy Program presents a unique chance to meet all of your energy needs while also helping the association and its members.

MAME members can manage their energy strategy in new and powerful ways with Constellation's full range of integrated energy solutions. Visit energy.constellation.com/MAMe.
