SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY, REQUIREMENTS, AND INFO

Advanced Concepts & Engineering
Solidifies Foothold in Central US

Gorham ME  -  Advanced Concepts & Engineering, or ACE - a company that offers automated solutions to the aggregate industry - continues to grow by leaps and bounds in the geotechnical world.

Joel Costonis, ACE’s Founder and President, has earned himself the nickname “the problem solver”.

Solving quality control issues and guiding his company by a few major directives, he has experienced growth far beyond anticipation.

“ACE started by answering the call to bring efficiency to the aggregate quality control world, first by planning the ACE Auto-Grade.  We did our development, test marketing etc and that product is now in full production. Then we started looking at automating gravity, density and other testing procedures and the ACE Auto-Grav was born.  It’s simply amazing to me that we have a waiting list on this product which will start deliveries mid 2018.”

When asked about his forte; raw aggregate, hot mix or ready mix, Costonis simply states “..my true forte is listening to what the industry wants.  My formal education is with finite focus on the asphalt industry, but I make it a point to be as up-to-date as I can on all of the testing procedures.”

ACE has received considerable recognition in the industry in a very short time, had growth that could not have been projected and “..has been embraced by a community that has been looking for solutions for ages” Costonis says.  When questioned about the still infant life cycle of ACE, one can’t help but notice that while indeed Costonis does things his way and likes things in certain order, his go to response is contrary to what most would expect, “I can only say that this has been a very humbling experience.”

A well thought out process and decision has been made to transition the MWPA to the Manufacturers Association of Maine (MAME). This will carry continuity and name recognition for the group and represent the wood products industry in ways that can help expand and growth this sector.

MAME has created a wood products alliance, consisting of our current members. We have a an email list for B2B contract work, resumes and other pertinent information needed for the industry.

Today, 21 MWPA members have joined with us to make a stronger, more vibrant and dynamic wood products alliance. We are still looking for more wood products members to join! If you would like to see our most recent new members, look above!

MAME is providing a number of programs and services for manufacturers across the state including:

  • The MAME Energy Program with Constellation Energy
  • Legislative and Policy Development—a strong presence in Augusta and Washington DC
  • Student and Educator Outreach to develop future workforce
  • Business Development for industry includes B2B contract work (potential contract work to members)
  • Networking and events that bring multi-industries together. We recently had a tour at a wood products company on April 12th, 2018. Shaw & Tenney allowed us to walk through and have a monthly meeting at their facility- look to the top of the newsletter to learn more.

Since January 1, MAME has sent 9 B2B contract opportunities related to the wood products industry.

At the 2018 MFG Summit, we will present the Pine Tree and Pine Cone award to two deserving wood products companies. Stay tuned to see who the recipients are!

If you are a current MWPA/MAME member, your dues include a ticket to the Summit. If you are not yet a member, you are invited, as our guest, to this amazing event and the largest gathering of manufacturers in the state! Register at www.mainemfg.com/events

MAMe B2B Lead Generation Services

Interested in finding new leads & markets?

Today we have the capacity, as an adjunct to our Business Growth Services Group, to assist companies access new markets and/or establish “warm leads” in new or existing markets, locally, nationally and globally.

“This past fall, the Manufacturers Association of Maine and Research Consultants International jointly worked together as part of a OEA grant project with Silvex to identify two high volume sales leads in an industry of Silvex’s choice. Both leads were exactly what we had requested and one of those turned into production volume work within a couple of weeks of the initial contact. Their prequalification process saved us countless hours and dollars in sales and marketing efforts by matching us with a potential customer who had an immediate need. We are very happy with the results and intend to utilize these services more in the immediate future.”

-Dan Atkinson, Silvex, Inc.

MAMe and Jackson Associates provide capability to Maine’s manufacturing base.

Please contact MAMe at 207-747-4406 or info@mainemfg.com for more information.
