A well thought out process and decision has been made to transition the MWPA to the Manufacturers Association of Maine (MAMe). This will carry continuity and name recognition for the group and represent the wood products industry in ways that can help expand and growth this sector.

MAMe has created a wood products alliance, consisting of our current members. We have a list serve for B2B contract work, resumes and other pertinent information needed for the industry.

Today, 17 MWPA have joined with us to make a stronger, more vibrant and dynamic wood products alliance. We are still looking for more wood products members to join!

MAMe is providing a number of programs and services for manufacturers across the state including:

  • The MAMe Energy Program with Constellation Energy
  • Legislative and Policy Development—a strong presence in Augusta and Washington DC
  • Student and Educator Outreach to develop future workforce
  • Business Development for industry includes B2B contract work (potential contract work to members)
  • Networking and events that bring multi-industries together

Since January 1, MAMe has sent 5 B2B contract opportunities to the MWPA group.

At the 2018 Mfg Summit, we will present the Pine Tree and Pine Cone award to two deserving wood products companies.

If you are a current MWPA/MAMe member, your dues include a ticket to the Summit. If you are not yet a member, you are invited, as our guest, to this amazing event and the largest gathering of manufacturers in the state! Register at www.mainemfg.com/events

MAMe B2B Lead Generation Services

Interested in finding new leads & markets?

Today we have the capacity, as an adjunct to our Business Growth Services Group, to assist companies access new markets and/or establish “warm leads” in new or existing markets, locally, nationally and globally.

“This past fall, the Manufacturers Association of Maine and Research Consultants International jointly worked together as part of a OEA grant project with Silvex to identify two high volume sales leads in an industry of Silvex’s choice. Both leads were exactly what we had requested and one of those turned into production volume work within a couple of weeks of the initial contact. Their prequalification process saved us countless hours and dollars in sales and marketing efforts by matching us with a potential customer who had an immediate need. We are very happy with the results and intend to utilize these services more in the immediate future.”

-Dan Atkinson, Silvex, Inc.

MAMe and Jackson Associates provide capability to Maine’s manufacturing base.

Please contact MAMe at 207-747-4406 or info@mainemfg.com for more information.

A Tribute to Suzanne K. Grover, a Long-Time Member

Suzanne K. Grover, 73, of Norway, passed away peacefully on Jan. 10, 2018, Suzanne was a founder of Grover Gundrilling, Inc., The Oxford Casino and The Boxberry School. Her philanthropic endeavors included the Oxford Food Pantry, the Oxford County Fair, 4-H Youth Development, the University of Maine System, and the Friends of the Blaine House. She was also very involved in the Maine Republican Party.
She is survived by her husband, Rupert Grover; her children, Jessica and Garth Grover; and her four grandsons, Emmett, Calvin, Jacob and Sam.

The Board of Selectmen offered deep appreciation for Norway resident and Oxford benefactor Suzanne Grover.  “We wouldn’t have a food pantry without her,” said Selectmen Chairman Pete Laverdiere, who praised Grover for her many contributions to the Oxford Hills and particularly her hands-on work at the local food pantry, coming to help out each day even through her illness. “She gave tremendous support to the town of Oxford,” Laverdiere.

Suzanne, co-owner of Grover Gundrilling with her husband, Rupert, and one of a small group of the original investors in the Oxford Casino, benefited many, people, organizations and events in the Oxford Hills and beyond

She served for 11 years as president of the Oxford County Agricultural Society and as the Helping Hand Food Pantry board president. She also volunteered for many other organizations including the Oxford Hills Growth Council, the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce and the Oxford Hills Education Exchange.

She was honored by Gov. Paul LePage after being named Oxford Hills Distinguished Citizen for 2014 by the Boy Scouts. At the time, Grover was working with Ann LePage, the governor’s wife, on the Travis Mills Project. Rupert and Suzanne Grover were also awarded the “Freedom & Opportunity” Award by the Maine Heritage Policy Center in 2016.
